Stillwater Baths
A slower rhythm, within the city.
A slower rhythm, within the city.
A disused industrial shell becomes a neighbourhood bathhouse. Warm timber rooms and planted courts create a gradual transition from the pace of the street to the stillness of water.
Finding the
essential form.
A sequence of thermal rooms is organised around an open-air pool. The original roof trusses remain visible above a new, lower layer of intimate enclosures.
Material & atmosphere studies
A place to
feel present.
Materials change with the body’s journey: cool stone at arrival, warm timber in the sauna and textured surfaces under wet feet. Light is indirect and deliberately calm.
6thermal experiences in a continuous sequence
Considered
from the ground up.
Environmental strategy
Heat recovery from wastewater preheats incoming water. A well-insulated pool cover reduces overnight losses. The retained building shell limits new material use.
A restrained material palette
