01 / Our story

A practice shaped
by the places it touches.

NØRVA began in Copenhagen in 2012 with a house, a shared table and a conviction that architecture is inseparable from its surroundings. The early work was small in scale and close to the making: homes, interiors and careful additions to existing buildings.

The practice grew through long relationships and an appetite for different contexts. London opened in 2018, followed by Kyoto in 2022. Today, twenty-eight people work as one studio across time zones, with local knowledge at the centre of each project.

01 / Copenhagen

Ingrid Sørensen

Founding partner · Architecture

Ingrid works at the meeting point of landscape and building. Her practice is shaped by a belief in clear plans, honest materials and the value of patient observation.

02 / London

Elias Ward

Partner · Adaptive reuse

Elias leads the London studio and its work with existing buildings. He brings a practical interest in how structures can change while retaining the qualities that make them worth keeping.

03 / Kyoto

Aiko Mori

Partner · Spatial design

Aiko’s work moves between architecture, interiors and objects. She leads the studio’s material research and collaborations with independent workshops in Japan and Scandinavia.

04 / Copenhagen

Jonas Berg

Associate director · Landscape

Jonas connects the practice’s buildings to the larger systems around them: water, planting, public access and the changing conditions of a site.

03 / How we work together

There is always
room at the table.

Every project starts with a conversation across disciplines. Weekly pin-ups connect all three studios. Material experiments, site visits and informal reviews keep ideas moving between people.

We value clear thinking, constructive disagreement and time away from the screen. Our research days give the team space to follow a question without having to know the answer in advance.

Our project teams are built with local landscape specialists, independent engineers, conservation advisors and craftspeople. Collaboration is a way of working, not a list of logos.
